Portrait of an Artist No. 1

Medium: watercolor on Polaroid
Size: 4.2 x 3.5” (10.67 x 8.89 cm)

For this piece, I found myself reflecting on the question: What truly defines an artist? Is it simply someone who creates? Or is it someone whose work resonates deeply enough to be admired and studied by others?

To me, an artist is anyone who dares to be creative, regardless of the medium. Whether a chef, a stage actor, or a writer, each of them embodies artistry in their own way.

For this particular piece, I captured a series of self-portraits using my Holga 120N and Ilford HP5 film. I then printed one of the images using my Polaroid Lab, carefully peeled apart the print, and brought it to life with blue and purple watercolor paints.
